“Creativity is contagious, pass it on”

First, I would like to thank everyone for stopping by and watching as this story progresses and the history of Via Hand is created. This blog will be an exciting adventure into the process I am enduring to go from a single mom of a 2-year-old, working in a call center, to doing what I love and sharing it with others! I like to think I am a very creative person, coming up with ideas for D.I.Y home decor, looking at things in the store and knowing I can figure out how to make it and pay WAY less. It was always a hobby, sit and crochet while watching t.v. , scrap booking with my mother, randomly going out and buying canvas and crayons to create some wall art for my bare walls…

So it was no surprise when I looked at my 2-year-old son watching his favorite t.v. show Toopy and Binoo, knowing that he loved the show so much, I wanted to get him some stuffies of his favorite character. Patchy Patch. Upon finding out that the only way I would be able to get this Patchy Patch toy would be to order it online for a pretty penny, that I picked up my crochet needle and decided I was going to figure out how to make one for him. So I made a trip to my favorite crafting store Micheal’s, picked up a ball of lime green yarn, and headed home to start my newest project.

To my surprise it didn’t take long and was fairly easy to make! It only took me a couple of hours to finish up and I was proud of myself for figuring it out. Considering most crochet items I make a fairly simple, hats, mittens, scarves etc… This was a big feat! So I posted it on Instagram and my Facebook account to show it off. The next day my phone was exploding with comments and likes from this picture. Everyone loved it too! A lot of my friends have kids around my sons age and to my surprise, I began to get orders to make them! And lots of them! All of this within 20 minutes of posting the picture, and even more when I posted my sons reaction to the toy.

My boyfriend then suggested I sell them, along with other things I make and/or have made. I thought about it, hummed and hawed for a few days, then thought well…. maybe I could! So I checked out Etsy and started to work on a shop. Then came the blog, and yes I mean this blog! Why not share my experience and preview of things to come with everyone? So here it is, Via Hand is created and will continue to grow as my hands get to work with many projects in mind!
